We’ve been told by the Pennsylvania Library Association that the end may well be in sight for the almost 100 day long budget battle. While details aren’t yet confirmed, it looks better than we feared but not as good as we’d hoped. How the actual impact will be felt is not yet sure, it will be felt. We will lose something and that means that you – our patrons – will lose something.
Even without knowing the details, I want to thank EVERYONE who wrote, called emailed, faxed, or in any way let their voices be heard in support of libraries. Without that support, I am positive that the future for libraries in this state would be bleak indeed. You have helped put libraries front and center on the radar screen of every legislator in this area, and probably the state. You have proven yourselves to be our best lobbyists. In return, we will continue to serve you and all our patrons to the best of our ability and resources.
On a more positive but related note, this Saturday is the Friends of the Library Book Sale at the Sellers Library Barn. Come and check the wide array of books and white elephant items for sale. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 3 p.m.
