We offer free home delivery of library materials to Upper Darby Township residents who are unable to visit the library due to Age-related issues, Illness, or Physical Challenge. Library materials will be delivered to and picked up from the patron’s residence by a staff member.

Specific books may be requested by title, and assistance is offered in selecting books by category.

Can’t find what you want in the DCL Catalog?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) allows patrons to borrow materials from libraries outside the DCL system.

Who can use ILL?

Anyone with a current DCL library card that is in good standing. Patrons can borrow up tp four (4) ILLs at a time.

How do I place an ILL Request?

Contact your local library for assistance in locating and requesting materials outside of Delaware County. Your library will contact you when your item has arrived, or if follow-up is needed.

Does ILL cost anything?

ILL is usually a free service. However, certain materials may only be available from libraries who charge a fee. In these rare cases, you will be asked if you are willing to pay the fee before the request is processed.

Please return ILL materials to the library that placed your request.

How long does ILL take?

Usually 7 - 14 days, though some materials may take longer. If you change your mind while you are waiting, please contact the library to concel the request.

Items that may not be available through ILL include:

  • New publications

  • Current bestsellers

  • New DVDs

  • eBooks

  • Antiques/rare books

  • Reference works, including genealogy materials

  • Text books

Interlibrary loan materials are subject to the borrowing periods and renewal policies of the owning libraries.
