You can support your local library and honor a loved one or their memory by making a donation to the library in their name. Memorial Books are a tribute to the deceased and a reminder to loved ones of the person’s life and interests. Honor Books can mark important milestones, such as anniversaries or birthdays, especially for the recipient who “has everything”. Birthday Club Books, for children under 12, help youngsters develop a connection to the library. Monetary donations can help support the work of the library in our community.

Honor or Memorial Books

  • For donations of $25 or more, a bookplate with the name of the honoree/deceased will be placed in the book.

  • Donors may suggest a subject area for the book that reflects the interests of the honoree or deceased. Actual titles will be chosen by library staff to suit the needs of the library.

  • Acknowledgements, including title information, will be sent to the honoree, or for a memorial book, the deceased’s family.

  • Acknowledgement will also be sent to the donor. All donations are deductible as allowed by law.

  • Checks should be made payable to the UD/Sellers Public Library.

Birthday Club Books

  • For donations of $15 or more, a bookplate with the name of the birthday child will be placed in the book. A birthday book sticker will also be put on the front of the book.

  • The birthday child will receive a birthday card from the library inviting him/her/them to be the very first person to check out this book. (Note: this option may not be suitable for very young children who don’t yet understand about sharing!)

  • Titles will be chosen from a wish list developed and maintained by the Children’s staff.

  • Acknowledgement will also be sent to the donor. All donations are deductible as allowed by law.

  • Checks should be made payable to the UD/Sellers Public Library.

Monetary Donations

Donations of any amount may be made to the Upper Darby Township & Sellers Memorial Free Public Library. Funds will be placed in the general operating budget and used for general library operations, unless otherwise specified. The Library Director and Board of Trustees reserve the right to refuse any donations or contributions of any kind that represent a conflict with the stated goals, mission or policies of the Library.
