What are “Special Reads” Kits?
These are kits of books that have been adapted to meet your kid’s needs. Each kit contains a book, along with adapted pictures and manipulatives that augment the storytelling experience. These kits were designed for children aged 4 - 8, and they’re great for use in libraries, child care settings, classrooms and homes! A perfect way to engage children with special needs in a literacy experience.

Penworthy STEAM to GO! kits have interactive STEAM (science – technology – engineering – art – math) resources to create safe and innovative learning environments that foster the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity. Each kit includes a high-interest prebound book paired with interactive STEAM resources on the same topic.

Biscuit Phonics Kit - Interest Grades: PK-3. Silly puppy, this kit is for readers. The first activity is a Reading Rods® phonics game and the second game is a quick card-based phonics game.
Paw Patrol Phonics Kit - Interest Grades: PK-3. Paw Patrol® is on a roll in this phonics set featuring a Paw Patrol® phonics book set, Wipe-Off phonics workbook and two activities. The first activity is three sets of soft foam phonics cubes and the second game is focused on sight words.

Get a set of books for your book club. Each bag contains multiple copies of the title, many have large print and audiobooks included.
Contact your local library to check the availability of each bag and to reserve them for your book club. These bags cannot be put “on hold” from your home computer, so you must contact your local library to “book” them. Bags can be checked out for up to eight weeks, and can be reserved up to eleven months in advance. Bags cannot be renewed.
